Tuesday 30 August | Children’s Holiday Activity | Bee Happy! | 10am / 2 hrs / recommended for ages 3 - 7 years. Learn about what makes bees happy and healthy and create something that will make you happy too! You will be making honey and banana muffins and also making a bee hotel to take home. Friday 2 September | Create, Upcycle and Reuse | 11am / 2.5 hrs – and the first Friday of every month - A free drop-in creative session. Take time to be creative and learn and share skills. This is a great opportunity to make new friends and become part of a creative, sustainable sewing and art-textile community. Free entry. Saturday 3 September | Hedgerow Winter remedies Workshop | 10.30am / 2.5 hrs - Explore the superstitions and folklore of the hedgerows with Christine from The Hedgerow Apothecary. Learn how our ancestors used plants to keep themselves healthy and their families safe from bad luck and witches. After an informative walk around the hedgerows at Tuppenny Barn, Christine will demonstrate how to make Elderberry Rob, a soothing cordial for sore throats and chesty coughs. We will also be making Bramble vinegar traditionally used as a gargle to ease prickly throats. You will have a bottle of each remedy to take home. Friday 9 September | Herbs and Women’s Health | 7pm / 2 hours - Sarah Furey, trained medicinal Herbalist, will be showing us how to use herbs to maintain or regain hormonal and emotional balance in today's stressful world. Monday 19 September | Tuppenny Explorers Club: Appletastic! | 3.45pm / 1hr A nature themed after school activity club for 4-11 year olds. Explore our orchard and pick apples to make delicious apple juice. Use your imagination and think about how the star came to live inside the apple. Tickets: £5 per child. Thursday 22 September | Fat Olives Cookery Demonstration | 9.30am / 2 hrs Using the best of what is local, sustainable and seasonal, Head chef and Fat Olives restaurant-owner Lawrence Murphy will be tantalising our taste-buds with a cookery demonstration creating a dish using organic produce that have come straight from the Tuppenny Barn growing beds. Friday 23 September | Traditional Pie Masterclass | 10am / 2.5 hrs - An Emsworth British Food Fortnight Event. Learn how to make the perfect pie with Jon Kaye of Jake’s Artisan Food. We will make one pork pie and one vegetarian pie using hot water crust and hand raised methods. After the workshop we will sit down together and enjoy one of our pies. Saturday 24 September | Music@ the Barn presents Steve Knightley | 7.30pm / 3.5 hrs - The songwriting force behind the highly successful acoustic roots duo, Show of Hands, is embarking on a nautical tour in the second half of 2016. Steve’s two performances at Portsmouth in early 2016 sold out within days and another sell-out performance from this extremely talented singer and musician is predicted. Friday 30th September | Macmillan Coffee morning – Pop-Up Cafe | 10am / 2 hrs - The Tuppenny Barn Pop-Up Café will be open as we take part in The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. We hope to get lots of people together for tea, coffee and cake, all proceeds of which will go to Macmillan, as well as additional donations which can be made to Macmillan on the day. There are now a staggering 2.5 million people in the UK living with cancer. By 2030, it will be 4 million people, and Macmillan wants to be there for them all.
