Spirit of the South

We all enjoyed our "Sing-A-Song-In-A-Day "event, on Saturday 2nd of April. We had two new songs and one favourite, which was "The Rose". Starting our set gently, with the moving “Huron Carol", a Native American Indian song, we moved easily into "The Rose". Performing our last song was a different kettle of fish, as the "Hey Soul Sister" is lively, energetic, and not one to sit still to. The Judges’ comments were very favourable, and earned us a Merit.

This year we are celebrating the 40th anniversary of LABBS, Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers. Choruses are either holding their own events, or celebrating with others. On 7th of May, five of our ladies joined Arun Sounds, and Cascades, at Pagham Village Hall for their “Jive Night". As the song says “Oh What A Night". During the course of the evening, the Scroll, which is signed, and passed on to each club in turn around Britain, was presented to two of our ladies, Jackie Stanley, and Sandra Strawn. With the signing of this Scroll, each club is acknowledging the great achievement of 40 years of harmony, and celebrating its part in this milestone year.
