Dick Barton – remember him?

Yes, the secret agent, with his trusty sidekicks Jock and Snowy, stirring music and plenty of unlikely action, is back and this time is on stage at the Station Theatre Hayling Island. ‘Dick Barton - Secret Agent’ by Phil Wilmott is a fast-paced romp and a mixture of homage and spoof and is based on the 1940s BBC radio serial.

The forces of evil are trying to poison Britain’s tea supply and threaten the very existence of the nation. So it’s time for Dick to turn up his collar and don his trilby to once again save the day. Well the audience will be comfortable in the theatre’s plush auditorium and replete with ice-cream and drinks from the bar. Nicer than being clustered around the old steam radio with a cup of Horlicks and whatever was left from the ration book.

HIADS present ‘Dick Barton’ from 1st to 8th August at 7.45pm, tickets are £8 from the box office on 023 9246 6363 10.00 to noon Monday to Saturday and online at www.hayling-dramatics.hampshire.org.uk or hiads.org.uk
