The fourth annual Proms in the Park, with four hours of great music, will take place on Saturday 11th July in the grounds of the Community Centre, The Old School, School Lane, Denmead so put it in your diary now! The Denmead Training Band will start the event at 5:15 pm and get everyone in the mood with the famous Denmead Brass taking over as the main band later in the evening. As in previous years, they will be playing all your favourite tunes from Tom Jones numbers to Rule Britannia. “Pompey Pluckersâ€, the popular Ukulele band from Portsmouth, will also be at the Proms, playing a selection of pop, rock and folk numbers. Enthusiastic audience participation will be positively encouraged - it’s going to be fun!
Food and drink will be on sale in the form of a gourmet BBQ with fine wines and soft drinks, but proms-goers are welcome to bring their own picnic too. There is ample free parking on site. Don’t miss out on this very enjoyable event!
Tickets are on sale now and are available from Denmead Community Centre and Discover Wines in the heart of the village. Call 023 9225 6132 to reserve your tickets; cost £6 per head, however young children accompanied by an adult come free. Proms in the Park is supported by two local businesses, Southdowns Funeral Services and Jeffries Estate Agents, both the event and proceeds will support two local charities: the Denmead Community Association and Denmead Brass Band.
