Continued funding supports work Beyond the Walls

Sprint Arts Heritage Centre

The Spring Arts and Heritage Centre in Havant is delighted to announce continued funding from Arts Council England to support Beyond the Walls, its outreach programme of creative opportunities in the community.

In the year since the Beyond the Walls programme launched, The Spring delivered over 6,000 opportunities for residents to take part in creative activities, including live performances for families in libraries and community venues and projects for young people in schools and youth service settings.

The Arts Council have committed to provide funding for a further two years, meaning that The Spring can continue to build on the relationships established with local organisations and to deliver high quality work to people across the borough, particularly families and young people. Already in the pipeline are a duo of outdoor theatre performances for families, another live theatre tour to libraries and a contemporary poetry project for young people.

Jemma Corbin, The Spring’s Outreach Manager, has managed the programme of events over the last year and says:

“I’m so proud of the work we’ve done in just one short year and I can’t wait to continue to build The Spring’s reach and impact into the community over the coming two years. I’ve loved seeing the impact of the work we’ve delivered, from the delight in the eyes of a child watching a theatre performance in their local library to the energy and courage of a young person performing to an audience for the very first time. Art really does have the power to transform lives and I am so excited to have the opportunity to bring more exciting work to Havant.”

Sophie Fullerlove, The Spring’s Director, says: “We are delighted that the Arts Council have reaffirmed their support of our outreach programme by confirming funding for a further two years. We firmly believe that arts and culture can play a valuable role in people’s lives and this funding will enable us to continue to build on our specialist work in the community, ensuring that vibrant and accessible work is made available to everyone in Havant.”
