Monday 21st September - 1900 for 1930 hrs - ‘A Concorde Evening’ with Capt Jock Reid
Our speaker for this evening is Captain Jock Reid, former Chief Test Pilot for the Civil Aviation Authority and a Concorde pilot over 14 years. Jock will give 2 talks, the first entitled “Life in the Fast Lane, Concorde from the Passenger’s Seat”; this talk reminisces about the advantages and privileges of the Concorde Passenger Experience, an experience sadly now denied to us all. In his second lecture entitled “The Paris Accident and Subsequent Return to Service” Capt Reid discusses the causes of that dreadful accident and the modifications and flight tests necessary to have the aeroplane successfully returned to passenger service.

Renowned aviator, showman and air show commentator Brendan O’Brien will present what promises to be an interesting and entertaining evening about his remarkable Flying Circus. Their shows mix barnstorming with innovation, combine the art of ‘Crazy Flying’ with the extraordinary skill required for a truck top landing.

‘The History of Boscombe Down & Old Sarum Museum’ by Sqn Ldr John Sharpe MBE RAF (Rtd)

Project Director of Boscombe Down Aviation Collection, Sqn Ldr Sharpe will give a unique insight into the remarkable part that Boscombe Down and Old Sarum have played in the story of aviation in the UK from the early years of WW1. This evening will be fascinating for all those keen on aviation heritage as well as anyone with an interest in the history of this part of southern England.

Air ACES is an aviation talk society, providing its members with regular talks, given by experts in many different fields related to the world of aviation. These talks cover subjects such as test flying, piloting iconic aircraft, RAF, aviation industry, air displays and many other related topics.

The talks are held at the Chichester Park Hotel, Westhampnett Road, Chichester, 7.00 for 7.30 pm. Visitors are welcome, admission for non-members £5 and under 16s FREE.
