HAYLING ISLAND COMMUNITY CENTRE

Hayling Island Community Centre are very proud that two of our volunteers, Wally Taylor and Josh Page, won awards at the Community First Havant Volunteer Awards on June 4th at Havant Borough Council Public Service Plaza.  Wally won the Lifetime Achievement Award and has been volunteering at the Centre for over twenty years.  He says ‘one of the most rewarding things he has ever done was getting involved with the Community Centre.  People are so friendly and I am never lonely.  People who volunteer will benefit from it so much’.

The Community Centre have opportunities for volunteers.  Our volunteer stewards/receptionists are so important to the running of the Community Centre, without them we would not be able to stay open for all the classes and events that are on offer to the people of Hayling.  Experience is not required, if you like meeting people and would like to be part of our friendly team we can promise you a warm welcome.  Our volunteers are based on Reception and are the first point of contact for visitors and telephone enquiries.  If you would like more information, please call Tina Lambert, on 023 9246 7567 for an informal chat. Thank you.

We are making an urgent appeal for volunteers who would be interested in driving the minibus for our ‘Daisy Chain Social Club’ on Wednesday afternoons and to anybody who would like to become part of the friendly team that help run the club.  No special license is required to drive the minibus.  Volunteers are also urgently needed to help with the Friday Lunch Club with general kitchen duties.  These clubs both finish for the summer holiday and start back the beginning of September.  If you would like further information on either of these groups please contact the office on 023 9246 7562 where we will be happy to help.
