HAMBLEDON FOLK CLUB

The club is held in the Youth Hut, West Street, Hambledon PO7 4RW(adjacent Village Hall and next to The Vine pub).

It’s a small venue which, while part of its charm means space is limited - booking is strongly advised.

Hambledon Folk Club offers a friendly and intimate setting enjoyed by artists and audience alike: many performers comment on the warmth of their reception and a true folk club atmosphere.  Nowadays the club features local, national and even international guest performers while invariably there is the traditional floor-spot session before the main act for local or visiting performers to each sing a song or play a tune or two.

HAMBLEDON FOLK CLUBWednesday 11 May - CROWS
‘Crows’ are a folk band who perform a mix of original and traditional music, with imaginative instrumental arrangements and powerful 4-part harmonies. Mick Ryan (lead vocals) is well known to the club, having performed here in duos with Pete Harris (vocals, guitar, bouzouki) and Paul Downes (guitar, banjo, Mando-cello and harmonies). As ‘Crows’ the three of them are joined by Dave Bordeway (fiddle, Mando-cello, high harmonies) who, like Mick, was a member of the original, much celebrated ‘Crows’ band in the 1980s. All four are well known and highly respected performers in their own right.

HAMBLEDON FOLK CLUBWednesday 8 June - HANNAH SANDERS AND BEN SAVAGE
A welcome return to Hambledon of Hannah and Ben who gave us a wonderful performance in 2016 before they became an established duo. Since then they have recorded two albums, toured the world and shared stages with the likes of Martin Simpson and Seth Lakeman. The remarkable purity of their vocals blends together in intimate duets accompanied on mountain dulcimer, dobro and guitar. Their material is as joyful and fun as it is intense, but the common factor is the duo’s warmth and confidence in each other; their natural ease and connection is a genuine pleasure to witness on stage.
