Bench Theatre

Thursday24 – Friday 26 April and Wednesday 20 April – Saturday 3 May at 7.30, with matinees on Saturday 26 April and Saturday 3 May at 2.30.

‘AS YOU LIKE IT’ by William Shakespeare at The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre, East Street, Havant.

Featuring local singer-song writer, Archie Mac.  Archie has written new settings for Shakespeare’s songs and will sing them live as part of the production.

This is one of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies; a tale of love in a magical forest that goes wrong until it goes right. A girl dresses as a boy until she doesn’t have to. A boy pins dreadful poems to trees until he’s persuaded not to. A bad Duke persecutes a good Duke until he sees the error of his ways.  Meanwhile, a down-at-heel philosopher insists that ‘All the world’s a stage’ – yes, this is where that famous speech comes from.

Di Wallsgrove’s streamlined production will be funny, touching and good to look at. If you have never been sure about Shakespeare, this production should clear the fog. If you’ve always been a fan, it will remind you why.
