Second Sea Lord & Deputy Chief of Naval Staff at Heart of Hayling Boxing Academy

Vice Admiral Nicholas Hine along with Lt Commander Victoria Hall were VIP guests at the  final non-contact and full-contact boxing sessions for this season at Hayling Community Centre on Wednesday 14th July.

After watching boxing drills and sparring sessions with Coach Knox White the VIP guests. presented medals and certificates to those who successfully completed their Preliminary GB Boxing Awards and earned Endeavour Medals.

Bella King gained her Preliminary medal and certificate whilst Theo Wilson was presented with his Endeavour award after his first sparring session.

Special surprise presentations were also made to boxing coaches Daisy Moncom and Jamie Younghusband by the Second Sea Lord. Daisy for gaining a university place to study Marine Engineering with the intention of joining the Royal Navy and Jamie for passing the entry interviews and tests to join the Royal Marine Reserves.

To complete the evening the VIP guests were presented with thank you gifts by boxers Phoebe Perry and Oscar Ball – photos below.

The VIP visit made a fitting end to the current season of the boxing academy with Vice Admiral Nicholas Hine telling the coaches and youngsters that he will return in the Autumn to check on progress!

Ladies’ boxing will continue during the summer months each Wednesday at 1900hrs (all Ladies welcome), whilst the Boxing Academy for 5-18yr olds will return with the new school term on Wednesday 8th September 2021.
