The Portsmouth CTC(Cyclists Touring Club) annual prize giving and awards lunch in January was an opportunity for members to get together, including some who don’t ride as regularly as they used to.
Although the morning was stormy with torrential rain at times several hardy members had cycled to the venue, so there was a sprinkling of club jerseys among us.
Presentation of awards included one for our very own correspondent Mike Skiffins for his regular articles in ‘Your Postcode’. (pictured sixth from right in the traditional group photograph above)
We are a touring not a racing club and most of our rides are in the morning to a coffee stop, or all day rides to a light lunch somewhere.
Occasionally we will do a proper tour over several days to somewhere interesting, but as with most of our rides we limit the numbers so we don’t have long strings of riders clogging up the roads from here to John o Groats. You can see the variety of ways of looking at cycling for fun.
