To start the celebration’s the club wanted to help give back to the community. On Sunday 21st April, a group of club members walked 12.5 Miles around Hayling Island, raising over £1,400. Half the money is being donated to local mental health charity Solent Mind.
The cricket season is kicking off from Saturday 11th May, with new First XI captain leading the teams charged in our return to County 1. Rob Cordell is tasked with trying to get the Second XI promoted out of Division 5 and new Skipper Richard Gillam will be leading the Third XI.
In addition to our Saturday League cricket, we will also be running our midweek T20 side Tuesday/Wednesday evenings for any adults keen on the shorter for form of the game.
As for our Youngsters, we are offering cricket to all children ages 5 and above. For ages 5 to 8 will be offering the ECB All Stars programme, and ages 8-11 will be doing the ECB Dynamos programme. Both sessions will be running Thursday Nights in May.
Ages 11 to 13 will be taking part in league cricket this year; with our under 11’s taking part in softball and under 13’s again entering the hardball league. All of our coaches, are DBS Check and ECB Qualified.
The peak of the club’s 125 Year Celebrations will be a special Anniversary match against the MCC Friday 26th July, starting at 11am at Hayling Park. Come on down to witness a once in a lifetime event, at no charge.
