THE CAT & RABBIT RESCUE CENTRE

Holborow Lodge, Chalder Lane, Sidlesham, W. Sussex PO20 7RJ www.crrc.co.uk

Hello, my name is Chekov, and I am one of the resident cats at The Cat & Rabbit Rescue Centre.

This month, though, I want to tell you the story of a truly resilient cat, a very special boy called Red. Red came to CRRC after the sad passing of his owner. From the moment he arrived at the Centre, it was immediately clear that one of his back legs was severely deformed. The abnormal shape and the way he struggled to move made it obvious that something was very wrong.

Further investigations, including X-rays and specialist assessments, confirmed our concerns. Our vets believe this was something Red was born with, as there were no signs of previous injury or trauma. Sadly, the deformity had led to severe hip dysplasia, with his right femoral head repeatedly popping out of the socket and causing him ongoing pain. After lots of careful thought and expert advice, the specialist team agreed that the kindest and best option for Red was to remove the affected leg, giving him the chance to live a comfortable, pain-free life.

Red bravely went off to the vets for his surgery, and I’m very happy to report that it was a great success. Now back at the Centre, he’s begun his recovery and is already learning to navigate the world on three legs and at just two years old, Red will adapt brilliantly. Red is the sweetest, most affectionate boy, and it makes my whiskers twitch with happiness knowing that he can now look forward to a bright, happy, and pain-free future.

Love Chekov

Pet of the month - Midnight & Constance
This month, we’d love to introduce you to Midnight and Constance. These two lovely girls are both around twelve years old and came into our care last November after their owner sadly passed away.

Midnight is a friendly girl who enjoys having a fuss made of her and is always happy to soak up some attention. Constance, on the other hand, is a little shy and may greet you with a hiss at first, but she doesn’t mean any harm. We’re confident that in the right home, with patience and understanding, she would soon come out of her shell.

Midnight and Constance are looking for a loving home together where they can feel safe, secure, and truly cherished. They would be best suited to a quiet household with no other pets or children.

If you think you may be able to offer Midnight and Constance a loving home, please give the centre a call on 01243 967111 or visit our website www.crrc.co.uk.
