THE CAT & RABBIT RESCUE CENTRE

Holborow Lodge, Chalder Lane, Sidlesham, W. Sussex PO20 7RJ

Hello, my name is Chekov, and I am one of the resident cats at The Cat & Rabbit Rescue Centre.

See you next month.

This month, I wanted to share the story of two very special kittens, Liam and his brother Noel, who have had quite a tough start in life. They arrived at The Centre as kittens, and now at just six months old, Liam has already had to face major surgery to give him the best chance at a happy, active future.

When they first came to us, they were both battling fleas, worms, sickness, and injuries to their tails. But poor Liam was struggling to move around on his back legs. After a check with our vet, we learned that Liam had luxating patellas in both of his back legs. That’s a fancy way of saying his kneecaps kept slipping out of place. For such a young cat, it meant a long and difficult journey ahead, including specialist consultations, surgery, and months of rehabilitation.

In December, Liam underwent double knee surgery with a specialist vet at OptiVets. We’re so relieved to say the operation was a success! Now, Liam is focusing on recovery, and thankfully, he has his brother Noel right by his side to keep his spirits up.

But surgery like this comes with a big cost. My hardworking humans have been trying to raise £5,000 to cover Liam’s operation and the ongoing care he’ll need as he grows. Thanks to our incredible supporters, we’ve already raised £1,800, an amazing start, but we still have a long way to go. And with 150 animals currently in our care, every bit of help truly makes a difference. Love Chekov.

Pet of the month - Eerie

This month, we’d love to introduce you to Eerie, a very handsome nine-year-old. Eerie came to us in September after he was no longer able to stay in his previous home, and he’s been patiently waiting for the right home ever since.

Eerie is a friendly soul with a sweet nature. He can be a little shy when meeting new people, but once he feels comfortable, he absolutely adores being fussed over. All he really wants is a gentle hand and a quiet spot to relax.

He’s hoping to find a calm, peaceful home without other pets or young children, somewhere he can settle in at his own pace and feel truly safe. Eerie does have a slight heart murmur, but at the moment, it simply requires monitoring and doesn’t stop him from enjoying life.

If you’re looking for a loving companion with a soft heart and a charming personality, Eerie might be the perfect match. If you think you may be able to offer Eerie a loving home, please give the centre a call on 01243 967111 or visit our website www.crrc.co.uk
