When you are out of contract and have paid for your phone, providers continue to take the same direct debit payments until you decide to change to SIM only.

It appears that the law may change soon but phone providers are taking millions of their unsuspecting customers every month because they did not read the small print on their contracts when they bought a new phone and SIM.
