As part of our policy to enable community projects, Postcode Publications intend to establish a ‘Men’s Shed’ in central Havant in conjunction with Chris Davage who is set to develop another in Cowplain, as part of a world-wide growing movement.
‘Men’s Shed’ provides encouragement for older men who want to get together, utilise their skills, learn new skills and help others to learn - all in a pleasant environment.
It is proposed that the Havant ‘Shed’ (HAMESH) will comprise a workshop with tools, materials and equipment provided by Postcode Publications as required, a comfortable private meeting room, kitchen and toilets.
Day-to-day management of the Shed will be up to the ‘Shedders’ using the facility, deciding on activities they want to follow in the space provided, and looking after the future of HAMESH as they want to.
Activities could include:
- woodworking
- Skills sharing
- Socialising
- Training sessions and skills transfer
