A busy time for Spirit-of-The-South

Gosport Music Festival, on Sat 7 Nov, had to be one of the best competitions we have entered. Being one of the smaller A-cappella choruses, 24 ladies in all, we felt more suited, more relaxed, and thoroughly enjoyed the day. At the end of the day we were awarded Three Highly Commended, and Three With Distinction.

On the evening of Wed 11 Nov, we took part in the annual Memorial Service arranged by Mr Lee Fletcher, at St Johns Cathedral, Portsmouth. It was a very touching service, and as the acoustics are beautiful there we really enjoyed the evening, as I'm sure the congregation did.

Portsmouth Dockyard held its Victorian Festival of Christmas, on Sat 28 Nov, and we sang a mixture of traditional carols, and Christmas songs in " Fagins Bar " much to the delight of the children who sat on the floor at the front of the stage. We were thrilled to find that our "warm-up act" as we called them, were Shep Wooley and his band. All in all, apart from the weather, it was a really good day for us.
