Spring clean your insidesI love it when spring is here and all the flowers start to come out to bloom! But its not just our houses and gardens that we need to clean up, what about having a spring clean for the body?

Spring clean your insidesOur Liver has a very important job to do and we can so easily ignore warning signs that all is not well. All the blood leaving the stomach and intestines passes through the liver and gets broken down to create the nutrients that we need. It also metabolizes drugs into forms that are easier to use for the rest of the body. So imagine how overloaded this can get. Another main function is detoxification, so that we can feel our very best every day and have the energy and zing to not just survive, but truly thrive. If your liver is struggling to cope these could be some of your warning signs...

  • Abdominal pain and swelling
  • Swelling of the legs and ankles
  • Itchy skin
  • Dark colour urine
  • Pale colour poo
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Skin and eyes that appear yellow

Of course go and get bloods checked if you feel you have serious liver disease, but the majority of us can do a lot to help the liver function so much better. These things can be super simple too.

Start by introducing these drinks into your daily diets:

  • Ginger and lemon tea
  • Oatmeal drinks
  • Turmeric drinks
  • Green tea

Spring clean your insidesBeetroot, Carrot, Apple and Ginger juices are fantastic at cleansing the liver and boosting your immune system - purify the blood and add essential liver cleansing vitamins and mineral into the blood stream such as potassium, vitamin C and anti-oxidants.

The best superfood powders or herbs to cleanse the liver are: Reishi mushrooms, Dandelion tincture, Milk thistle, cardamom and chicory root.

And if you want to know what foods to eat every day you should include: Broccoli, Green vegetables, grapefruit, blueberries,  cranberries, olive oil and a heap of fresh ginger and garlic.

If you know you have some of the above symptoms and really want to speed track your liver into better health then castor oil packs are fantastic - All you need is some organic caster oil and a muslin cloth. This can also be great top help digestion, bloating, period pains, endometriosis, constipation and bloating, and its also amazing for your immune system.
All you need to do is cover the muslin cloth in caster oil - place it over the liver area, or area of pain and cover with a proper caster oil pack or simple some cling film (Eco of course) Leaving this on over  night seems to work best when you are fasting and not eating. This helps to shift stagnant energy and move toxins out of the body. Doing this at least three times a week is ideal.

And last but not least - EXERCISE!! You’ve got to move your body every day in order to oxygenate and create healthy cells. Exercise is not just a twice a week thing...it's daily. If you put in the effort you will get the rewards!
