Would you know what to do in an emergency?

Hayling Island Community Centre are offering three very different First Aid courses for anyone wanting to brush up or learn new skills: Basic First Aid Monday 12th May 10am-12.30pm £5. This course will look at what to do in an emergency and how to look after an unconscious casualty, there will be a demonstration of CPR with a chance for everyone to practice on dummies. Participants will learn how to deal with shock, major bleeds, basic life support and CPR, heart attack and strokes. No prior knowledge is necessary. Trainer registered with Health & Safety Executive. You will receive a certificate of attendance.

The second course is Basic First Aid for Children, and is suitable for anyone who is involved with looking after babies or youngsters. This will be on 19th May and 23rd June - £5. This session will include the unconscious child or baby, recovery position, infant CPR, choking, febrile convulsions, meningitis and head injuries.

The final option is a two day Paediatric Would you know what to do in an emergency? First Aid course The Course is suitable for anyone involved in the provision of childcare, or anyone responsible for a child / children’s welfare. Most importantly, the course is Ofsted Approved, and each successful candidate will receive a certificate under the Health and Safety Regulations Act (First Aid) which will be valid for 3 years from the date of issue. It will cover the following topics: Roles and responsibility, Incident Management and Recording, Unconscious Casualty, Resuscitation in: Adults, Children and Babies; Choking, Blood Loss and Shock, First aid kits, Burns, Bones and Joints, spinal injuries, sprains and strains, illnesses and disease and medication.

The dates for this are Saturday 14th & 21st June from 9.30am-4.30pm at a cost of £40 per person.
