THE PRINCESS ROYAL IN HAVANT

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal visited the Public Service Plaza, Havant to unveil a plaque to mark the official opening, during Havant Borough Council’s Community Open Day event.

The Open Day gave residents an opportunity to look around the Plaza and the numerous stands from voluntary organisations, public services, partner organisations and local business entrepreneurs.

Havant’s Public Service Plaza represents a new way of partnership working to deliver public service excellence. The refurbishment of the building, completed a year ago, is now occupied by Havant Borough Council staff and partners, Hampshire County Council Children’s and Adult Services and the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB).

The scheme is recognised by Government as a model for two-tier working across county and borough councils. The development of public service hubs supported by new technology and flexible working practices enables councils to deliver savings and more joined up public services under one roof. As well as lowering energy use and carbon footprint, it releases now surplus public buildings for sale.

It offers joined up public services accessed through one central point.

The Plaza is Shortlisted for Design and Innovation in the 2013 RICS South East Award.
