Motiv8 Havant is running the National Citizen Service (NCS) for young people age 16 & 17 for 4 weeks from 21 July to 15 August. NCS offers a residential activity week, a range of opportunities to build confidence, learn new skills, meet new people and take part in a project to improve the local community. And to just have fun with new friends!
The Motiv8 NCS group includes young people from across the Havant borough as well as those who already are involved with Motiv8, from attending Motiv8 youth clubs to seeking advice about career choices at Motiv8 drop-ins. Part of the attraction to join the NCS programme comes from young people seeing the opportunity to travel away from home for the first time in their lives and take part in an activity-filled week at Avon Tyrell Activity Centre in the New Forest. This leads on to three weeks of activity in their local community. Many of the group have strong opinions about their local area and see this as a chance to be heard, influence change and support local group. The fact that, for the older ones, this is a recognised achievement that can be a valuable addition to their CVs, makes NCS even more appealing.
