LAWYERS (AND DOGS) WALK FOR CITIZENS ADVICE CHARITY

On an evening in September local lawyers and judges turned out in force after their day’s work to support local Citizens Advice offices in Worthing, Chichester and Havant for a sponsored 10k walk around Chichester. Two judges, teams from several local firms and all 3 CAB Districts came with t-shirts collecting tins and even a couple of well-dressed dogs to raise valuable funds for the local CABs starting from the Crown Court building in Southgate Street and finishing with a well-earned drink at a pub near the Canal Basin. All the CAB teams have their own fundraising pages on:

and will get back 100% of money raised by their own teams (plus gift aid). Any money made on the other legal walkers’ pages will be split equally between the 3 CABs. So far Havant & District CAB has raised over £700 and the solicitors contribution is over £800 per bureau. Havant CAB is hoping to use the funds to provide better facilities at its bureaux for advisers and clients.

Full details of the teams and the walk are featured on the website of the organising charity London Legal Support Trust who organise fundraising events to help free advice agencies across London and the South of England – www.londonlegalsupporttrust.org.uk. The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) did much of the local organisation of the walk and so far the total fundraising has topped £4.000. Donations will be accepted up to the beginning of December 2014 and then the three Citizens Advice Bureaux can get spending to improve their services.
